Dyslexia is a challenge, not a barrier.

Why worry about reading?

Think about all of the things that you read every day, things like emails, texts, memos, books, and briefs. Now try to imagine what life would be like if you couldn't read. Life would be challenging to say the least.

Children with dyslexia don't have to imagine a challenging life. They're living with the confusion and frustration that is struggling to read each and every day. And they don't get to struggle in private. Every time a child is asked to read aloud in class, dyslexia can crush that child's self-esteem.

With appropriate, scientifically-based intervention, children with dyslexia can learn to read. They can recover their self-esteem. It is our mission to support such intervention for every West Michigan child in need. We won't worry about reading any more, once every child can read to succeed.

In order to succeed in school and life, children must learn how to read. Children with dyslexia require different teaching methods in order to learn. It is our goal that all West Michigan children with dyslexia have access to the specialized reading instruction that meets their individual needs.
